List of Boards & Commissions
Public Works Board
The State Public Works Board (SPWB) was created by Nevada Revised Statute 341.020. Its purpose is to provide recommendations to the Governor and Legislature on the priority of construction and capital improvements projects. The board also adopts regulations and presides over appeals regarding the qualification of contractors and disputes regarding contracts. Staff support is provided by the Department of Administration's State Public Works Division.
Personnel Commission
The State Personnel Commission is responsible for adopting personnel regulations for the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) and for reviewing decisions of the Division of Human Resource Management Administrator regarding contested personnel issues and advising on matters of the division’s administration.
Commission For Women
After nearly two decades of inactivity, on October 27, 2014 the Sunset Subcommittee of the Interim Legislative Commission recommended to Governor Brian Sandoval that he reactivate the Commission For Women, appoint new members and charge them with a mission relevant to today's society and economy. The Governor supported the recommendation and the Legislature approved the reactivation of the Commission For Women by passing NRS 233I. The Commission For Women is comprised of 10 members with equal representation from the north and south as well as balanced political party representation. The Commission is charged with the duty to study the changing and developing roles of women in society, including the recognition of socioeconomic factors that influence the status of women, and recommend proposed legislation. Staff support is provided to the Commission by the Department of Administration's Director's Office.
Employee-Management Committee
The Employee-Management Committee provides the final administrative review of grievances and serves in an advisory capacity to the Governor, the Personnel Commission, and the Department of Administration's Human Resource Management Division with respect to all matters of personnel administration and employee relations. This committee consists of an equal number of management and employee representatives. Staff support is provided by the Department of Administration's Division of Human Resource Management.
Information Technology Advisory Board (ITAB)
The Information Technology Advisory Board (ITAB) is created by statute NRS 242.122 and NRS 242.124 for the purposes of:
(1) Advising EITS on a variety of issues relating to information technology, including strategic planning and the budget appropriate to support the EITS mission of performing information services for state agencies.
(2) Reviewing goals and objectives, including the review of planning for the information technology of each state agency.
ITAB members include legislators, representatives of large users of EITS services, information technology specialists from cities and counties, private sector representatives of the information technology industry, and members of the Executive Branch. Staff support is provided by the Department of Administration's Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Division.
State Records Committee
The State Records Committee was established in 1993 (NRS 239.073 et seq., 1993 Statutes of Nevada 208) to direct state agencies on appropriate records retention schedules as well as statewide recordkeeping policies and practices. Once approved, the schedules have the force and effect of law. Staff support is provided by the Department of Administration's State, Library, Archives and Public Record Division.
